Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan met today at the Palace of the Republic with Israeli physician, writer, and playwright Iddo Netanyahu.
Karan emphasized that the Holocaust against the Jewish people and the genocide against Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia represent a lasting obligation to preserve historical facts from oblivion, while persistently defending freedom, identity, and the right of peoples to exist.
He said it was an honor to attend yesterday’s promotion of Netanyahu’s book Yoni’s Last Battle: The Rescue at Entebbe, 1976.
Karan noted that the Entebbe operation went far beyond the framework of a hostage rescue mission, describing it as an extraordinary testament to the strength of a people, the responsibility of a state toward its citizens, courage, and the importance of sovereignty.
The President of Republika Srpska expressed satisfaction with Iddo Netanyahu’s visit to Banja Luka and Republika Srpska, emphasizing that such meetings make an additional contribution to deepening the traditional friendship between the Serbian and Jewish peoples.
He added that the visit also contributes to strengthening relations between Republika Srpska and Israel.
