International relations expert Luciano Kaluža stated for RTRS that Republika Srpska is now recognized as an equal partner on the international stage and that its voice is being heard both in Moscow and Washington.
According to him, this is confirmed by the participation of the Republika Srpska delegation at the International Security Forum in Moscow, as well as by the organization of the first European Summit on Economy and Security in Banja Luka, hosted by the Gold Institute for International Cooperation.
Kaluža recalled that Milorad Dodik announced he would address participants at the forum in Moscow, focusing on the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he described as being destabilized by external political interference directed against Republika Srpska.
“Foreign actors, through Christian Schmidt and certain diplomats, created both a political and security problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is necessary to return the security situation under the authority of domestic actors, and this is a message that can now be heard from both Moscow and Washington,” Kaluža said.
Speaking about the summit in Banja Luka, he stressed that it is significant that the city has been recognized as a place where contemporary geopolitical processes and the future of European security can be discussed.
“Banja Luka is sending a message that European security issues can be discussed here and that messages can be sent from here to the United States, Russia and China,” he stated.
Kaluža believes that the summit carries both political and economic importance, emphasizing that Republika Srpska is increasingly viewed as a secure destination for investment and development.
“The United States wants to be present through investments and economic projects, and the fundamental precondition for that is stability and security,” Kaluža emphasized.
He added that the new American foreign policy approach is based on reduced interference in the internal affairs of other countries, while expecting domestic political actors to resolve challenges within Bosnia and Herzegovina on their own.
“From a situation in which Banja Luka was not asked about anything, we have arrived at a moment where the first European Summit on Economy and Security is being held precisely here,” Kaluža concluded.
