A traditional “Ozren Mowing Festival” will be held on May 31, 2026, on the slopes of Mount Ozren, at the estate of Drago Šajinović in Kakmuž-Volujak.
The event, organized by the cultural and artistic society KUD “Kakmuž,” will begin at 11 a.m. and promises a return to tradition, celebrating rural labor and folk customs.
The Ozren Mowing Festival is not only a competition, but also an opportunity for social gathering and preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the region. Visitors will have the chance to watch skilled scythe workers compete in speed and technique while enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Ozren.
The event visuals feature young people dressed in traditional folk costumes, further emphasizing the cultural and folkloric spirit of the gathering. The scythe remains a symbol of traditional labor, while the clay jug carried by the girl represents refreshment during demanding field work.
Organizers have prepared a full experience for both participants and visitors. Valuable prizes are secured for the best competitors, while a communal lunch and social gathering will follow the competition, celebrating successful work through song, conversation and togetherness.
All interested participants and visitors are invited to attend the event and help preserve the spirit of old traditions.
“Come and revive the spirit of old times together with us, support the guardians of our tradition and enjoy the beauty of Ozren. KUD ‘Kakmuž’ welcomes you with open arms. The Ozren Mowing Festival is a place where the past, present and future come together,” the organizers said.
