The children’s book Čudesnica by Trebinje author Dubravka Vujinović was presented during celebrations marking the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the patronal feast of Duži Monastery.
The new book continues the themes introduced in Vujinović’s previous work, Čudesni pečurak (The Magical Mushroom), bringing readers another imaginative story filled with warmth, adventure and meaningful lessons.
Although the familiar character Pečurak remains part of the ant family, the new story focuses on a younger generation of characters and a new family of little ants.
At the heart of this educational fairy tale are children’s imagination, playful mischief and games, brought to life through a colorful world of animal characters.
A deeply personal story inspired by the author’s daughters
Speaking about the inspiration behind her books, Vujinović explained that both stories hold special emotional significance for her family.
“I am the author of Čudesni pečurak, a book dedicated to my daughter who has developmental difficulties. Čudesnica came into our lives as her great miracle, and a miracle for all of us. I hope it will bring her nothing but joy and happiness throughout her life,” Vujinović said.
She revealed that the title Čudesnica actually refers to her younger daughter.
“Čudesnica is, in fact, my younger daughter. But it seems to me that we live in a time when miracles are something we truly need,” the author added.
Through its imaginative characters and heartfelt message, Čudesnica celebrates childhood, family love and the importance of finding wonder in everyday life.
