The International Accordion Festival “Accordion Art Plus” begins tomorrow in East Sarajevo and will run until May 29, bringing together leading accordionists, pianists and music educators from across the region and the world.
As part of the festival, the Eighth International Piano Competition will also be held. The competition program will be organized across five disciplines, while four concerts are planned within the artistic segment of the festival.
According to Maja Žuža, this year’s edition has attracted a record number of participants.
“We have around 400 competitors this year. Together with jury members and guest artists from 14 countries, the festival will gather around 500 participants in total,” Žuža said.
Mirko Patarini, who is attending the festival for the 16th time, praised the continuity and reputation of the event.
“Many festivals last only a short time, but this one has endured for years. I feel that the Balkans have a large number of talented young accordionists who are learning to play at a very high level, not only as amateurs,” Patarini said.
