Director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation Ana Trišić Babić expressed satisfaction that Professor Jeffrey Sachs had accepted an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka and would share his knowledge and experience with students and the academic community of Republika Srpska.
“Professor Jeffrey Sachs’ visit to Banja Luka and Republika Srpska is of great significance. He is one of the world’s best-known economists, a professor at Columbia University and someone whose views are respected around the world,” Trišić Babić wrote on X.
She emphasized that Banja Luka is increasingly becoming a meeting place for prominent international experts, academics and individuals with extensive global experience.
“This confirms that Republika Srpska has something to offer and that its institutions, universities and professional potential are being recognized beyond our borders,” Trišić Babić said.
She added that Republika Srpska would continue expanding its international cooperation while protecting its interests and placing knowledge, education and development at the center of its progress.
“We will continue opening Republika Srpska to cooperation with the world, while safeguarding our interests and building a society that places knowledge, education and development at the heart of its progress,” she said.
Sachs, one of the world’s best-known economists and a professor at Columbia University, met with senior Republika Srpska officials at the Government headquarters in Banja Luka.
He is scheduled to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka tomorrow.
