An exhibition titled Black-Black by artist Miloš Vučen has opened at Stojanović House, a branch of the Kozara Museum in Prijedor. The exhibition features prints and drawings created at the intersection of the material and the symbolic, exploring layers of meaning and silence through the dominant use of black.
The exhibition presents an experimental and carefully considered approach to artistic expression, combining traditional drawing techniques with elements that evoke other visual media.
A new interpretation of Vučen’s artistic work
The exhibition brings together a selection of prints and drawings, including a triptych presented in a new arrangement for the first time.
“The exhibition consists of a series of prints and a series of drawings, although a specific selection was made for this occasion. For the first time, I am exhibiting a triptych in a completely different form. Rather than presenting it in its original arrangement, the entire project has been separated into its individual components,” Vučen explained.
His works explore the relationship between drawing and other artistic media, while remaining rooted in traditional techniques using ink and pen.
Traditional drawing meets digital aesthetics
Exhibition curator Daria Vujasin highlighted the artist’s ability to create visual effects that suggest different media.
“In his drawings, the artist experiments with several media, including digital aesthetics, creating an impression that we might actually be looking at a photograph,” Vujasin said.
The exhibition emphasizes the expressive possibilities of black, using its visual intensity to explore form, symbolism and artistic interpretation.
Kozara Museum continues supporting young artists
Kozara Museum Director Dragana Madžar emphasized the institution’s commitment to supporting young artists and encouraging younger audiences to engage with contemporary art.
She noted that Vučen had previously worked as a teacher at the Prijedor Gymnasium, where he served as a role model for students.
“Miloš Vučen worked for a time as a teacher at the Prijedor Gymnasium and was a role model for many students. I believe he continues to inspire them. That makes this exhibition particularly important for our institution, as it will help attract younger visitors,” Madžar said.
The Black-Black exhibition will remain open at Stojanović House in Prijedor until the end of the year.
