Ledenac Eco-Ethno Park near Ribnik: Where nature meets the traditions of Zmijanje

On the Manjača plateau, in Sitnica near Ribnik, along the main road connecting Ribnik and Banja Luka, lies Ledenac Eco-Ethno Park, a destination that brings together nature, tradition and the authentic atmosphere of the region.

Surrounded by mountain landscapes and fresh air, Ledenac offers visitors a place to relax, spend time in nature and discover the cultural heritage of Zmijanje. The Ledenac spring, after which the site was named, is located in the immediate vicinity of the park.

Zmijanje house – guardian of tradition

One of the most distinctive features of Ledenac Eco-Ethno Park is its traditional Zmijanje house, which offers an authentic glimpse into the way people once lived in this area.

Its architecture, construction techniques and interior reflect the everyday life of the people of Zmijanje and traditions passed down through families for generations.

Today, buildings such as this have particular importance because they preserve an important part of the region’s cultural and ethnological heritage.

Ledenac as a Manjača getaway

The natural surroundings of Manjača give Ledenac its distinctive atmosphere. Mountain air, greenery and tranquility away from the pace of city life make it an attractive destination for day trips, outdoor recreation and gatherings.

Thanks to its location along the Ribnik–Banja Luka road, Ledenac Eco-Ethno Park also has strong potential for the further development of excursion and rural tourism.

A place for gatherings and events

Over the years, Ledenac has also become a gathering place and venue for various events.

Among them is the traditional Kotlićijada, a cooking event that brings together lovers of local food, social gatherings and the customs of the region.

Events of this kind bring additional life to the area and help transform Ledenac from a place visitors simply pass through into a destination where they choose to stay and experience the surroundings.

Ribnik’s tourism potential

Ledenac Eco-Ethno Park has been recognized as one of the tourism assets of the municipality of Ribnik, particularly because of its potential to develop attractions and activities that combine nature with local tradition.

The area offers opportunities for camps, festivals, cultural events and other tourism activities, which could further strengthen Ledenac’s position on the tourism map of this part of Republika Srpska.

Ledenac preserves two of the region’s greatest treasures – its natural beauty and the story of the generations who once lived here.

It is precisely this combination of an authentic setting, the traditional Zmijanje house and the mountain landscape that makes Ledenac a destination worth visiting.
