Two bronze medals for Feniks in Lyon

The U13 and U15 basketball teams of Feniks from Bijeljina secured third-place finishes on the opening day of the Talent Tournament in Lyon.

The U13 and U15 teams of Findo from Doboj, as well as the U15 team of Glasinac from Sokolac, failed to advance beyond the group stage.

Feniks coach Damir Begović expressed satisfaction with the performances of both of his teams.

“It was good. Both teams gave their maximum effort. In some matches we lacked a bit of luck, and perhaps we did not adapt as quickly as we could have. We move forward. This is a great learning experience and valuable opportunity for us. Every player got a chance to play. When we received the invitation, we were told that this was a tournament of friendship. That is exactly how we approached it. Every child received playing time and a specific role,” said Begović.

Marko Đuranović, captain of the Feniks U15 team, missed the tournament due to injury but supported his teammates throughout the competition.

“The guys did a great job. I am sorry I could not play. I am sure I could have helped and perhaps we would have gone a step further. The younger team also looked very good and achieved a nice result. Overall, this trip has been a fantastic experience,” Đuranović said.

One of the standout performers in the U13 team was David Ivković.

“I enjoyed everything. This has been a great experience. We spent a wonderful time together, and the entire trip has been a real pleasure for all of us,” Ivković added.

The U18 teams of Findo, Glasinac and Radnik from Bijeljina are set to compete at the tournament today.
