Republika Srpska takes part in the “Ivan Kupala” festival in Tatarstan

Republika Srpska presented itself at the Slavic cultural festival “Ivan Kupala” in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, through the participation of a delegation from the municipality of Jezero and the ethno group “Biseri Plive,” which performed as part of the cultural and artistic programme.

The “Ivan Kupala” festival, dedicated to the summer solstice, brought together numerous participants and visitors in Berezovaya Roshcha Park in Zelenodolsk.

On behalf of the Rais of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, those gathered were addressed by Farid Mukhametshin, honorary chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, while the ceremony was also attended by a delegation from the municipality of Jezero in Republika Srpska.

The invitation for the delegation from Republika Srpska to take part followed last year’s visit by an official delegation from the Republic of Tatarstan to Banja Luka, when representatives of Zelenodolsk and the municipality of Jezero agreed to establish cooperation.

The concert programme featured folklore ensembles from Tatarstan, the “Vyazanka” ensemble from Belarus and the ethno group “Biseri Plive” from Republika Srpska, while the festival’s main musical attraction was the Belarusian ensemble “Syabry.”

In addition to the concert programme, workshops, folk games and traditional Kupala rituals were organized for visitors, while the festival concluded with the placing of wreaths on the water and a fire performance.
