Dodik: We see Hungary as a strategic partner

Republika Srpska considers Hungary a strategic partner, said President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik following a meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest.

“This was our 11th meeting, and we plan to hold more meetings this year. We are committed to reviewing everything we’ve agreed upon and to its implementation. We stated that all agreed projects are successful and being realized in the best possible way. In some areas, there are difficulties that are not related to either of us, but we are resolving them together,” Dodik emphasized.

The president of Republika Srpska underlined that all previous projects with Hungary have been confirmed.

“The meeting was not only about economic issues, but also about certain political and strategic topics. Hungary expresses its stance in the best possible way. What is very important to us is that Hungary understands the position of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region. They believe that Srpska is indispensable and that its rights should be affirmed in accordance with international agreements,” Dodik stressed.

Dodik pointed out that Republika Srpska supports Hungary’s right to be involved in all Balkan issues and challenges.

“Hungary and Orbán’s policy is a proven policy of peace. Our cooperation with Hungary is at the highest possible level,” said Dodik.

He assessed that cooperation between Republika Srpska and Hungary is continuously improving.

“We also discussed energy, education, strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism, and joint intensive police training to enable us to act preventively against terrorism, which is a global issue,” said Dodik.

Dodik reiterated that Republika Srpska and Hungary are not acting against anyone.

The meeting with Orbán was also attended by Minister of Finance Zora Vidović, Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education Željko Budimir, Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, General Director of Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske Luka Petrović, and BiH Ambassador to Hungary Biljana Gutić Bjelica.
