Tadić: Schmidt leaves, the people remain

Legal expert Ognjen Tadić stated that today’s session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will demonstrate the clear position of Republika Srpska regarding Christian Schmidt and the role of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Tadić, this position will be expressed through the proposed Declaration on the closure of the OHR, submitted by Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić.

Tadić argued that Republika Srpska, as a party to the Dayton Peace Agreement and its annexes, has the right to insist that any future High Representative be appointed through the United Nations Security Council procedure defined by Dayton.

He also criticized parts of the opposition in Republika Srpska for previously recognizing Schmidt’s legitimacy, saying the current moment should serve as an opportunity to redefine their political stance.

“Schmidt leaves, the people remain,” Tadić said, emphasizing that Republika Srpska continues to address political issues through its institutions and constitutional mechanisms.
