Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Vranješ stated that the visit of BiH’s ambassador to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija, to Christian Schmidt at the Office of the High Representative (OHR) was a new scandal ahead of the upcoming UN Security Council session on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vranješ said Lagumdžija’s move demonstrated that he does not respect the Presidency of BiH, the body constitutionally responsible for conducting foreign policy, but instead “grants that authority to an illegal foreign protector.”
According to Vranješ, the UN Security Council session scheduled for October 31 will not include the report of the so-called high representative, as that day marks the end of Russia’s presidency of the Council.
“That report will not be presented on October 31 but likely in early November,” Vranješ told SRNA.
He added that Lagumdžija apparently visited Schmidt to consult him on what positions to take or possibly to relay information about how Schmidt’s report might be received in the UN Security Council.
“Whatever the content of that meeting was, it represents a political scandal. It clearly shows that Lagumdžija does not recognize the BiH Presidency as the institution in charge of foreign policy but instead gives that status to the illegal high representative Schmidt,” said Vranješ.
He emphasized that Lagumdžija’s actions reveal whose interests he truly serves:
“Lagumdžija is not serving Bosnia and Herzegovina — he is serving Bosniak political interests, expressed through the international protectorate imposed on BiH,” Vranješ stated.
According to him, this once again exposes the way such officials view and operate within Bosnia and Herzegovina — a country not based on the consensus of its three constituent peoples, nor on the Dayton institutions, but on the authority of a foreign occupier who acts as if he rules BiH.
“As always, Lagumdžija behaved in line with his political past. He confirmed the words of Elmedin Konaković: ‘Tie your horse where the aga tells you.’ Now it’s clear who the horse is — and who the aga,” Vranješ concluded.
Earlier this morning, Zlatko Lagumdžija was seen entering the OHR building in Sarajevo.
