Dodik for Bloomberg: Trump can change anti-Serb narratives

President of SNSD Milorad Dodik expressed confidence that U.S. President Donald Trump is someone who can change narratives that have been, as he said, “catastrophic for the Serb people and Republika Srpska.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, Dodik stated that there is a clear difference between what he described as the “criminal administration” of former U.S. President Joe Biden and the current Trump administration, which, according to him, does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

“The new administration has a new framework. They want to maintain peace and develop business here. I believe them when they say they will not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. In Republika Srpska, we read this as being connected to Bosnia and Herzegovina, a failed country that has no chance of survival,” Dodik said.

According to him, the United States is still interested in doing business in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country where, he added, “no amount of American money can prevent its decline.”

“The U.S. has been trying to build Bosnia and Herzegovina for the past 30 years, but instead of Einstein, they created Frankenstein. The Balkans is not yet on Washington’s agenda, but when it is, I believe we will be an important factor,” Dodik assessed.

Speaking about Republika Srpska’s foreign policy, Dodik emphasized that a balance between relations with the U.S. and Russia is possible, as the positions of those two countries are not as different as those between Moscow and the EU.

“Europe has lost the values it once promoted, such as human rights, freedom of movement, and competitiveness. We have said that we want to join the EU, but without imposed processes,” Dodik concluded.
