The popular cabaret Love Behind the Scenes, starring Mina Lazarević and Vladimir Posavec Tušek, will be performed at Banski Dvor on March 7 at 8 PM.
This emotional play brings the audience hilariously entertaining and touching moments from the lives of two “old-timers” in love—an acting couple with nearly 100 years of combined professional experience. In this story, full of seduction and challenges, the audience will have the opportunity to peek behind the theater curtain, witness their romantic adventures and misadventures, and enjoy relatable life situations that amuse, move, and inspire.
Mina Lazarević co-directed and co-wrote the script with Vladimir Posavec, but as she told Glas Srpske, the play itself emerged from stage improvisations that kept evolving into a full-fledged cabaret.
“The play actually came about when we initially created a ‘musical-poetic evening’ and soon realized it wasn’t enough. You know how it goes—some music, some poetry—but that felt like a familiar format. However, through conversations and playful exchanges, we arrived at a story with a serious dramaturgical structure within a cabaret performance. Our play has all the elements of a cabaret but also maintains a strong dramatic form with a coherent narrative,” Lazarević explained.
The cabaret is enriched with outstanding music, which, according to the actress, follows the storyline.
“Almost every song serves as an introduction to something about to happen on stage or reflects on something that has already taken place. Just like in a musical, music is an inseparable part of the dramaturgy in cabaret, and we made sure to honor that in our performance. As for my singing in the play, the songs are mostly well-known and beloved hits, so the audience often sings along with us,” said Lazarević.
