Banja Luka has made it onto the British travel guidebook “Rough Guides” list and has been declared the best unexplored city in Europe, as reported by the British newspaper “Express.”
The report mentions that Banja Luka was dubbed the best unexplored city in Europe based on the number of visitors gathered by Euromonitor.
“A lovely small town has been declared the best to visit in Europe, but tourists rarely go there. Banja Luka, the second-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 138,963 inhabitants, sits along the Vrbas River. This city is one of only two in Europe on the list, alongside Liepaja in Latvia,” the text reads.
The guidebook describes Banja Luka as “one of the prettier cities in Europe,” with boulevards lined with trees and green squares housing stylish cafes.
According to the “Express,” among the must-visit spots in Banja Luka are the Christ the Saviour Cathedral, the Art Gallery of Republika Srpska, the Ferhadija Mosque, and the Kastel, referred to as the “stone heart of the city.”
The article also highlights interesting locations such as the Krupe Waterfalls, the Museum of Ljubačka Dolina, and the Recreational Zone, described as “a green oasis with outdoor activity trails.”
The Krupe Waterfalls are portrayed as a “journey into the past,” with pathways through the forest, a monastery, and castle ruins.
