“President of the Republic Organization of Families of Captured, Deceased Fighters, and Missing Civilians, Isidora Graorac, stated today that the process of searching for missing Serbs is at a standstill, with the greatest responsibility falling on the Institute for Missing Persons in BiH, formed in 2008.
After a meeting with representatives of the Association with the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković, in Banja Luka, Graorac assessed that it is concerning that in the past 15 years only 59 individuals of Serbian nationality have been found and identified.
Urgent action is needed on this matter stated Graorac.
According to her, efforts should be made to return this process to the entity level primarily in terms of identifying 570 mortal remains located in three memorial ossuaries in Republika Srpska.
She mentioned that the meeting also addressed housing care, employment for the children of deceased fighters, socio-material rights of these categories, and funding for the work of this organization.
Graorac noted that they received assurances from Prime Minister Višković that the Housing Care Program for the families of deceased fighters and war veterans from 2019 will be implemented and that the budget for the next year will include the allocation of non-refundable funds to resolve housing issues.
Regarding the employment of children of deceased fighters registered with the Employment Bureau, Graorac stated that the list at the Bureau should be reviewed to determine whether these individuals are actively seeking employment and if there is a possibility for requalification.”
