James O’Brien has come to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina. A man who likes to say that the Dayton Agreement came from his pen wrote the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
For us, this will be an opportunity to see if the State Department wants to greet positive trends and agreements among political representatives in BiH or if they will try to stop those trends, following the example of their embassy. This will be an opportunity to see if the force that the USA represents wants BiH as a sovereign or subordinate structure, wrote Dodik on the social network X.
Dodik states that the author of the Dayton Agreement could testify to decades of successful peacebuilding and progress based on its foundations.
“The authors of the Dayton Agreement understood that one rule governs all—that there should be no imposition of the will of one person on others, i.e., an agreement of all three is needed. All real progress is owed to our agreements based on that rule,” Dodik states.
He says that progress in BiH has been hindered for years by the desire of certain centers and policies to impose a new rule, which, in translation, means one person ruling over others. This was, as he says, impossible in the 20th century and remains impossible in the 21st century if stability, development, and progress are desired.
“Republika Srpska wants to strengthen positive trends and wants discussions and agreements within BiH. We do not agree and will not agree to impositions. We support the Constitution of BiH, i.e., a constitutional BiH, and reject an extrajudicial, imposed BiH. So, BiH will be constitutional, or it will not exist. The involvement of foreigners must come to an end,” Dodik emphasizes.
Dodik said that BiH belongs to Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats, and others.
“No one is more or less than others. The writer of Dayton should know that. A sovereign country is only one that belongs to itself, and in BiH, that means to the constituent peoples. Republika Srpska will extend a hand of cooperation to everyone and will not raise hands in surrender to anyone,” said Dodik.
