Members of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska as Observers at Elections in Russia

A member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Srđan Mazalica, and the advisor to the president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Siniša Vidović, will be observers at the presidential elections in the Russian Federation, to be held on March 17, 2024.

The official invitation to representatives of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska was extended by the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin.

Srđan Mazalica, a member of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, said that the electoral process is proceeding transparently with the presence of international observers and that this event has garnered significant interest from both domestic and international public.

“Here in the Nizhny Novgorod region, we are monitoring the elections at the Main Election Monitoring Center. This is just one of the areas where international observers are present. Observers from Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa are present. Our impression is that the elections are proceeding transparently, and the elections and voting methods are modernized even compared to European standards,” Mazalica said.

Alongside Mazalica in the Russian Federation, as an observer, is also the SNSD member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Miroslav Vujicic, and about 1,000 other international observers are monitoring the presidential elections.

“Srđan Mazalica and I are observing the 8th presidential elections in Nizhny Novgorod, which has about 3 million voters. The elections are proceeding in accordance with the law and the specificities of Russia, which spans multiple time zones. We were in the Nizhny Novgorod Control Center, where 6,000 observers are present at 2,500 polling stations. At the polling stations we visited, voting is proceeding smoothly without any problems,” said Vujicic.

More than 112 million voters are eligible to vote in the presidential elections in Russia.

Four candidates are participating in the race for president, of which three are nominated by parties while one is an independent candidate: Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladislav Dankov from “New People,” and Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party, while the current president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is an independent candidate.
