“Svetozar the Third” performed for the seventh time in East Sarajevo

The comedy “Svetozar the Third”, written by Ljiljana Bralović and directed by Mihailo Kostadinov, was performed for the seventh time in East Sarajevo on Saturday evening at the Cultural Center by young actor Ivan Perković.

Perković expressed his joy at returning to East Sarajevo, noting that this was the 215th performance of the play.

“I received an award for this performance in 2019 at the ‘Festival of Small Stages and Monodrama of Srpska’. It is always a pleasure to come here—some kind of positive force keeps bringing me back,” said Perković.

He pointed out that the audience in East Sarajevo is truly special.

“The first time I came here in 2019 was unforgettable, and not a year has passed since without me returning at least once. I love this place because the stage and the audience are wonderful, and you can feel the cultural tradition here. The opening of the National Theatre in East Sarajevo is a huge step forward, and I believe they will continue to grow their repertoire with new premieres,” Perković noted.

Speaking about the play, Perković said it is filled with laughter, which is why many spectators come multiple times.

“I’ve heard that there are even people who have come to see the play seven times. They always expect a good time—and they get it,” he added.

In this monodrama, Perković portrays a Serb peasant who “parted from his soul” and spent an entire day dead. During that time, he could see and hear everything but was unable to move his body. His greatest wish was to be buried in a new suit, which his family couldn’t afford. This and many other absurd situations create humorous moments that Perković masterfully delivers from the stage.
