The literary and musical event “Days of Duško Trifunović,” dedicated to the work of one of the region’s most prominent poets, begins today in Pale.
A roundtable titled “Those Who Sleep Through This Will Regret It” will be held at the Pale Cultural Center at 1:00 p.m., bringing together university professors, writers and poets to discuss various aspects of Duško Trifunović’s work.
Topics will include Trifunović’s love poetry and poetry for children, as well as personal memories and reflections on his literary legacy, the Pale Cultural Center announced.
A literary and musical evening will also be held at the Cultural Center at 7:00 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to hear stories about Trifunović, enjoy poetry readings by participants, and attend the presentation of the Duško Trifunović Literary Award.
A concert by Katera will be held at the Cultural Center tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
The play “Women in Red” is scheduled to be performed on September 15 at 8:00 p.m. at the Pale Cultural Center.
Duško Trifunović was born in Sijekovac, near Brod, in 1933. He published his first book at the age of 25 after moving to Sarajevo.
He wrote around 20 books of poetry, four novels and several plays, and is widely regarded as one of the key figures in the development of the Sarajevo school of rock music.
Trifunović wrote lyrics for some of the best-known singers and rock bands of the former Yugoslavia, including Bijelo Dugme, Indexi, Zdravko Čolić and Arsen Dedić.
He is also remembered as the creator of the cult Television Sarajevo program “What Children Know About Their Homeland.”
Following the outbreak of the war in BiH in 1992, Trifunović moved to Novi Sad, where he died in 2006. He was buried in Sremski Karlovci.
