Milić: Pristina authorities tried to prevent my visit to Kosovo and Metohija, but I did not give up

Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić said he was detained for more than six hours by members of the Kosovo Police at the Merdare and Jarinje administrative crossings before being allowed to enter Kosovo and Metohija.

According to Milić, he was subjected to a detailed search during the border procedures but ultimately succeeded in reaching the Monastery of the Holy Archangels near Prizren, where he attended the monastery’s patron saint’s day celebration despite what he described as attempts to obstruct his visit.

“Members of the so-called Kosovo Police held me for more than six hours at the Merdare and Jarinje administrative crossings, where I was subjected to a thorough search before entering Kosovo and Metohija,” Milić said during an appearance on RTRS’s morning programme.

Despite the delays, Milić said he remained determined to be present alongside the Serb community and did not consider abandoning the trip.

He added that Kosovo and Metohija represent an enduring commitment for the future, emphasizing that the secular and spiritual identity of a people cannot be erased.

“The presence of a large number of worshippers in the courtyard of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels sent a message that Kosovo and Metohija are defended through faith, love, dignity, and perseverance,” Milić said.
