Good relations with Israel, a country that holds significant influence over policy-making in Washington, are highly important for Republika Srpska, and being recognized as a partner by Israel strengthens its international position, political analyst Dragomir Anđelković said.
“For Republika Srpska, it is extremely important to maintain good relations with Israel and for the Israeli political leadership to understand its positions, recognize that Republika Srpska can be a reliable partner, and appreciate its genuinely friendly attitude toward Israel,” Anđelković said.
He stressed that such relations strengthen the international standing of Republika Srpska and, at a time of growing Euro-Atlantic divisions between Europe and the United States, help it secure Western partners willing to support it despite pressure from certain European power centers.
Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović is currently on a multi-day visit to Israel, during which she has met with senior state officials and participated in several major international events.
