SNSD leader Milorad Dodik stated in an interview for RTRS that the fact Christian Schmidt admitted to German media that he was leaving due to pressure from the US administration only proves that he lacks both political and general judgment.
- If that were really the case, it would not suit him to say it publicly. He and people like him want to send the message that the Americans are acting against them. He wrote himself off the moment he publicly supported Kamala Harris. The truth is that he was against Donald Trump during the election campaign and did not expect him to win, and people in America do not forgive that – Dodik said.
According to Dodik, Schmidt is now trying to minimize that mistake.
- Schmidt, untalented and politically incompetent as he is, permanently divided the peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina. That only opened our eyes, and perhaps later we will even be grateful because he demonstrated the impossibility of Bosnia and Herzegovina functioning this way. You cannot force things by pressure – Dodik emphasized.
He added that Schmidt had greatly benefited from his position.
- There was never any reason for interventions by the so-called High Representatives. Everything that was done later, under the excuse of having good intentions for Bosnia and Herzegovina — how can anyone believe that in a possible escalation they would remain objective? – Dodik asked.
Dodik further stated that he knew Schmidt would be removed, but had been asked to remain silent about it.
- I knew the exact day and moment he would leave. I was told it would be done in a polite manner, but if he resisted, he would end up on a blacklist. Being the coward that he is, he complied. They also told me that if I did not comply with the High Representative, I would be punished — and I did not comply. And now, of course, he is leaving the way he is leaving — without dignity, and somehow Dodik is to blame for everything – Dodik concluded.
