Tadić: Declaration protects Dayton from what was done during the “Christian Schmidt affair”

Ognjen Tadić stated that the Declaration on the closure of the OHR, adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, was driven by the need to protect the Dayton Peace Agreement from what he described as the international “Christian Schmidt affair.”

“Republika Srpska is a party to the Dayton Peace Agreement and its annexes. Annex 10 clearly defines the mandate of the High Representative,” Tadić said.

He argued that the Declaration is intended to inform the guarantor states and the United Nations Security Council that the Dayton framework must be protected from actions taken during Schmidt’s mandate.

Tadić expressed confidence that the Security Council, if it wishes to preserve its own credibility and authority, will not allow such a situation to happen again, adding that it has strong support from Republika Srpska in that regard.

Lawmakers in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted the Declaration yesterday, calling for the termination of the mandate of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the closure of the Office of the High Representative (OHR).

The adopted document states that the National Assembly, as the highest institution of Republika Srpska and a signatory party to Annex 10 of the Dayton Agreement, demands that the UN Security Council urgently adopt a resolution ending the mandate of the High Representative and shutting down the OHR.
