Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović stated that Republika Srpska supports the end of American support for state-building interventions abroad and emphasized that no one will intervene in Bosnia and Herzegovina anymore.
- The end of support for activities aimed at building other people’s states means that we will have to make decisions ourselves, and when you have to make decisions on your own, it means that everyone must reach agreements together. Politicians in Sarajevo often say that agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina is impossible and that someone will intervene again, but no one will intervene anymore, and that should be clear to everyone. It is clear to us, and we have prepared very well for this period – Cvijanović told reporters in Prnjavor after a visit.
She recalled that SNSD leader Milorad Dodik had previously stated that a time was coming in which there would no longer be the kind of international interventionism imposed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor the concept of building foreign nations or states.
- The US State Department report, which states that “the era of US-led nation-building in the Western Balkans has passed,” clearly outlines Washington’s priorities regarding its foreign policy approach toward this region. The document was sent to Congress to provide a better understanding of the guidelines. Economic priorities dominate, along with the presence of American investors, because the United States wants to demonstrate that it can be present here in a different way than before – Cvijanović added.
According to Cvijanović, the United States also wants peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to implement projects and establish order in the region.
