Broćeta: incidents in the Bihać village of Trubar are an alarm authorities ignore

Goran Broćeta stated that the recent incidents in the Bihać village of Trubar, where migrants looted several houses belonging to Serb returnees and broke into an Orthodox church, represent a long-standing alarm that authorities continue to ignore.

He pointed out that Serbs across the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are ежедневно exposed to intimidation, desecration of cemeteries and places of worship, as well as constitutional discrimination, to which no one responds.

“When you think nothing can surprise us anymore, Trubar happens – the looting of several homes of the few remaining Serb returnees and a break-in at the village church. Although we are aware of the neglect Bihać shows toward villages attached to it from the pre-war municipality of Drvar, we still call on them to take all necessary measures so these cases are finally resolved and the perpetrators adequately punished,” Broćeta told Srna.

He added that he would call on the federal Minister of Interior, Ramo Isak, to become involved in the case and demonstrate his “capability” in practice.

“I will personally call Minister Isak, who frequently speaks about both his own and the overall capability of the Federation Ministry of Interior, to engage in this case and prove that capability in action,” Broćeta said.

He noted that residents of Trubar still mostly turn to authorities in Drvar, despite not belonging to that municipality or canton, due to the neglect of the Una-Sana Canton authorities.

Around twenty Serb returnees in Trubar spent Easter in fear and uncertainty, after migrants—following a failed attempt to cross into Croatia—broke into the local Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos and looted several returnee households.
