Emir Kusturica’s YouTube channel blocked

The YouTube channel “My Life” of acclaimed Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica, featuring programs produced in cooperation with Sputnik, has been blocked.

In the series, Kusturica tells the intimate story of his life, from Sarajevo and major cities around the world to Mokra Gora, while recent episodes featured exclusive material from the filming of his new movie “Čuružanka.”

Sputnik said YouTube’s rules allow a channel to be removed following user complaints about video content, with three consecutive warnings within a 90-day period resulting in automatic termination of the channel.

However, according to Sputnik, neither its editorial team nor Emir Kusturica received any warning or notification in this case.

“This is not the first time the ‘democratic’ West has imposed censorship on us. Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, all video content produced by Sputnik Serbia has been blocked on YouTube,” Sputnik stated.

In a previous case, channels associated with RT television and the Sputnik news agency were blocked in Europe.

Sputnik said it would continue what it described as its fight for the truth, adding that its video content would remain available on Odysee and on TikTok, X and Telegram.
