Professor emeritus Nenad Kecmanović stated that in order to secure victory in the referendum in Republika Srpska, one must have as “trumps” the hatred of the protector and the Bosniak neighbors, pointing out that President of Srpska Milorad Dodik does not lack any of that.
– Herr Schmidt from Baščaršija will now raise an outcry with a series of bans and indictments, accompanied by the cheering of Brussels. Otherwise, in EU declarations it is “recommended that referendums be applied as much as possible as the highest standard of democracy,” but they will say they did not mean that for the Serbs – Kecmanović wrote in a text for Politika.
Kecmanović stressed that it does not even matter what they think in Brussels “because decisions about the EU are made in Alaska,” and added, “it is true there are no Serbs there, but there are none of them either.”
He noted that Dodik, in addition to the current one, announced a series of referendums without further explanation, although it is not difficult to guess what issues they would address.
– Ever since, in recent years, he sharpened the question of returning the seized competencies through referendums, the debate has been whether to go one by one, or selectively with several of the most important, or all at once – Kecmanović wrote.
He pointed out that Dodik insists on the greatest possible distancing from Sarajevo, which means a peaceful separation.
