Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović said that Republika Srpska has no obligation to justify itself to anyone, stressing that its only debt is to those who defended Republika Srpska and secured the freedom its people enjoy today.
Commenting on an address to the United Nations by BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković, Cvijanović said that Serbs have no reason to justify themselves to anyone.
“Just film all these graves. We owe no one any explanations. Our only obligation is to preserve Republika Srpska,” Cvijanović said.
She emphasized that the people of Republika Srpska owe a debt of gratitude to those who defended it during the war and made possible the freedom in which its citizens live today.
Cvijanović made the remarks after laying a wreath at the Novi Zejtinlik Serbian Military Cemetery in Sokolac.
A memorial service was held there as part of the observance of the patron saint’s day of the Association of Disabled War Veterans of Republika Srpska, dedicated to Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr.
Wreaths were laid in remembrance of the fallen soldiers, with Cvijanović reiterating the importance of preserving the memory of those who gave their lives for Republika Srpska.
