Stevandić: UN Security Council session a key step toward Republika Srpska’s self-sustainability

President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated today that the closed session of the United Nations Security Council regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a significant step toward the self-sustainability of Republika Srpska.

Stevandić noted that such a session would not have been possible in the past, but over the last two years—since Republika Srpska has been brought onto the global stage and into political and state-level discussions—it has become a central topic amid ongoing efforts to secure its autonomy and survival.

He emphasized that today, the entire world is aware of what Republika Srpska represents, which is why, according to him, attempts are being made to remove its president, who is being blamed for this visibility.

“The Security Council session is another step forward in making the situation known, but also a step forward toward our self-sustainability. Each subsequent session will carry even more weight,” Stevandić told reporters in Gradiška.

He added that Republika Srpska will not back down, regardless of those who believe that history is written with seals stolen without the consent of those who grant them.

“History is written—and always has been—by the will of the people. Others may appeal to embassies and foreign representatives, but we will turn to the people, because they write history. History does not build monuments to cowards and opportunists—it remembers victims and heroes. We want to walk the path of heroes, not become victims,” Stevandić concluded.
