Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik is being prosecuted because he defends the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Constitution of Republika Srpska.
This was stated by legal expert Ognjen Tadić in a comment for Glas Srpske following the decision of the Court of BiH to uphold the first-instance verdict sentencing Dodik to one year in prison and banning him from political activity for six years.
“In that sense, everything that was said about the first-instance ruling applies equally to the second-instance one. It’s unbelievable that the Court of BiH has sided with Christian Schmidt and is applying Schmidt’s unlawful decisions,” Tadić said.
He added another observation:
“According to the BiH Criminal Procedure Code, the second-instance verdict could have been issued around July 11. Yet it was issued today—on the very day that marks Christian Schmidt’s fourth anniversary in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I can’t shake the impression that the court issued this decision as a congratulatory gesture for Schmidt’s anniversary,” Tadić concluded.
