An exhibition titled “Hidden spaces of great masters – studios of Serbian artists” has officially opened at the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje as part of the Transfiguration festivities and celebrations marking the major jubilee of two centuries since the founding of Matica Srpska.
The exhibition features a rich art collection and a diverse selection of artists and was organized in cooperation with the Gallery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad.
The representative exhibition of paintings and photographs offers a glimpse into the studios and creative spaces of Paja Jovanović, Stevan Aleksić, Đorđe Jovanović, Milan Konjović, Petar Dobrović, Milenko Šerban, Ivan Tabaković, Ljubica Cuca Sokić, Ivanka Acin and Vera Zarić.
The exhibition presents both individual artistic bodies of work and an overview of Serbian national art created from the late 19th to the late 20th century.
An artist’s studio is the center of their creative work, a refuge for ideas and the birthplace of works of art. Through paintings and photographs, the exhibition brings these spaces to life, offering visitors an intimate look at the working and living environments of prominent Serbian painters and sculptors.
