The member of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Republic of Srpska, Anđelina Ošap Gaćanović, has been dismissed from office.
According to Ošap Gaćanović, the dismissal was carried out retroactively and without a legal basis, as the decision of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously been challenged by the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska following the veto of the Serb member of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović.
Ošap Gaćanović stated that she was informed through the Commission’s finance department that an order had been issued to retroactively remove her, as well as Commission member Faruk Kapidžić from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the institution’s records.
She said that an official acting on behalf of the executive authority instructed employees to deregister both members, explaining that the Commission had allegedly received a decision appointing international members and that they were therefore no longer Commission members.
According to Ošap Gaćanović, these actions demonstrate that the Commission’s decisions are being taken outside all prescribed legal procedures, which she described as an attack on the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Peace Agreement.
She also announced that there are grounds to file criminal charges, both regarding her employment status and the broader conduct of those responsible.
