Milisav: When war waged through the judiciary backfires – Le Pen, Trump, Dodik

When the political will of Republika Srpska could not be broken at the ballot box, the judicial-political mechanism of the deep state and liberal Brussels was activated, here aided by the Sarajevo bazaar, political scientist and diplomat Marko Milisav said in a column.

We are publishing his column in full:

Marine Le Pen is nevertheless a candidate in the upcoming presidential election in France, as officially announced on July 7, 2026.

It is not as if they did not try everything to stop her. A conviction, a ban on holding public office, an ankle monitor, a media lynching and moral lectures from the very same circles that recognize democracy only when their own candidates win. In spite of all this, Le Pen announced her candidacy for 2027. The Court of Appeal upheld her conviction, but had to shorten the ban on holding public office, thus, whether it wanted to or not, leaving her a path to stand before the people. Today, even in the view of her biggest opponents, she is the favorite in that race.

The court ruled, but it did not stop her. The system tried to remove her from politics, but failed to take away the only thing that truly matters, the right to address the French people and let them decide.

Her candidacy is therefore not merely a domestic French story. It is a new chapter in the same story that has been repeating itself across the West in recent years: sovereignist leaders who cannot be defeated in elections are being stopped by the same enemies in different jerseys – the deep state in Washington, liberal Brussels, and in our case that same team, assisted by the Sarajevo bazaar. This is what is called lawfare, war waged through law and the abuse of the judiciary in the political arena.

What they apparently never understand is that this weapon regularly explodes in their own hands. Every verdict designed to remove someone ends up strengthening them. Every attempt at disqualification turns out to be the best promotion a politician could have wished for.

Trump has already gone through that, and in full measure. Indictments, trials, a media witch hunt… the intention was to make him disappear from politics forever. The result was the opposite: not only did he survive, he won and now sits in the Oval Office. Trump’s victory in 2024 showed that voters cannot be forced to forget their candidate simply because the establishment cannot stand him. The same pattern, only in our own yard, can also be seen in the case of Milorad Dodik. When the political will of Republika Srpska could not be broken at elections, the judicial-political mechanism of the deep state and liberal Brussels was activated, here aided by the Sarajevo bazaar.

Verdicts, bans and persecution aimed at politically, and even physically, eliminating President Dodik. The result here as well is the opposite of what they wanted. After all the pressure, Milorad Dodik today stands stronger than ever, and Republika Srpska knows more clearly than ever who its friend is and who is judging it in the name of чужих interests.

Le Pen, Trump and Dodik come from three different worlds, but they embody the same pattern of resistance to the same enemy. The deep state in Washington, liberal Brussels in Paris, or Bosniak politics in Sarajevo all use the same logic and the same approach. The form changes, the essence does not. In all three cases, the message is identical: when they cannot defeat a leader at elections, they try to eliminate him before them. And in all three cases we see the same reversal: Le Pen the favorite, Trump the president, Dodik stronger than ever.

Courts may pass judgments, the media may label, prosecutors may fabricate case files. Yet as long as even a minimum of democracy exists, the decision is made by the people. No matter how many tools they have at their disposal – courts, sanctions, bans, media and commissioners – they cannot defeat what comes from the genuine will of the people.

Because in the end, the people are always stronger.
