A five-day regional conference dedicated to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) governance has begun in Sarajevo, bringing together experts, regulators and institutional representatives with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience on the challenges posed by the rapid development of new technologies.
Dragan Milinović, Director of the Communications Regulatory Agency, emphasized that the conference represents an important regional and European platform for understanding artificial intelligence and its impact on society.
“This is an opportunity to discuss, in a professional manner, what artificial intelligence is and how to deal with all the challenges it brings. It is a major regional and European initiative that will help us better understand AI and the ways in which it develops,” Milinović said.
He stressed that AI-based technologies are developing extremely rapidly, making it necessary to continuously monitor global trends and exchange experiences among countries, regulators and the professional community.
According to him, a particular challenge lies in establishing appropriate mechanisms to protect the privacy of citizens, businesses and institutions, while at the same time making use of the benefits brought by the development of AI systems.
“Changes are occurring so quickly that the entire world must constantly follow technological developments and exchange experiences so that regulators and institutions can respond adequately to new challenges,” Milinović emphasized.
Speaking about the growing impact of artificial intelligence on everyday life, Milinović assessed that AI is already significantly influencing the way people communicate, learn and make decisions.
“Just as the internet and mobile phones marked previous decades, we are now witnessing a new technological transformation. It is time to face these processes in the best possible way and to apply global standards and best practices,” said the Director of the Communications Regulatory Agency.
The conference in Sarajevo is being organized with the support of international partners and experts in the field of digital technologies, with a special focus on regulatory frameworks, ethical issues and the safe application of artificial intelligence in both the public and private sectors.
