Kojić: The Pavlović case has become a symbol of selective justice

The President of the Organization of Families of Captured and Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians from Srebrenica, Branimir Kojić, said that the case of Vojin Pavlović from the association “Eastern Alternative”, the first Serb convicted under the law imposed by Valentin Inzko, has become a symbol of selective justice and the attitude of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions towards the Serb people.

Kojić noted that Pavlović is in hospital and fighting for his life, pointing out that it is concerning that certain Federation media outlets have on several occasions possessed information regarding decisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina related to him.

“Because of this, a logical question arises as to whether certain media outlets are informed in advance about decisions concerning his status and the possible extension of his stay at liberty due to his serious health condition,” Kojić said.

He added that the public has the right to know who receives information from judicial institutions and under what conditions, and whether all citizens are treated equally in this regard.

He stressed that a large number of citizens of Republika Srpska do not perceive the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an independent judicial institution, but rather as an institution whose decisions often deepen national divisions and further undermine confidence in the judiciary.

He pointed out that numerous crimes committed against the Serb people remain without an adequate judicial outcome, while Serbs are prosecuted, convicted and sent to serve prison sentences because of spoken words and imposed legal provisions.

“For three decades, the families of Serb victims have been waiting for justice for their loved ones, while for many crimes committed against Serbs no one has been held accountable,” Kojić noted.

He added that the Serb people are not seeking privileges, but rather truth, justice and equal standards for all.

Attorney Mirko Blagojević stated that, due to the deteriorating health condition of the President of the Citizens’ Association “Eastern Alternative”, Vojin Pavlović, he will once again request that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina postpone his departure to serve his sentence.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Pavlović to three and a half years in prison for displaying a banner in Bratunac congratulating former Commander of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska, General Ratko Mladić, on his birthday.
