Aleksandr Gruško said that Western powers are trying to drive a wedge between Serbia and Republika Srpska in order to gain control over the Balkans through a divide-and-rule strategy.
Speaking to media outlet Vesti, Gruško said nothing has changed in that approach and claimed there are ongoing efforts to weaken ties between Serbia and Republika Srpska and divide the Serb people.
He argued that Western actors believe they can more easily control the Balkan Peninsula by dealing with the region in fragmented parts.
Gruško also described the Balkans as one of the arenas of what he called a political and diplomatic campaign against Russia, alleging that local populations are being influenced by narratives portraying Moscow as a threat and rejecting Russian presence in the region.
He further claimed that Western international interventions often lead either to devastated states or divided territories.
Gruško additionally said a Russian delegation in Banja Luka discussed an initiative by Vladimir Putin for a Eurasian security framework.
According to him, the proposal could serve as a basis for a broader continental security structure founded on non-interference in internal affairs, indivisible security, and rejection of domination by any single state or bloc.
He concluded that such a framework could create conditions for prosperity, peaceful coexistence, and respect for different identities and values across Eurasia.
