The Folklore Festival was held in Kotor Varoš as part of the “Kotor Varoš Cultural Summer” event, featuring performances by eight cultural and artistic associations from Republika Srpska, along with the local ensemble “Žubor.”
Prior to the main event, the participants paraded through the town and performed a large traditional circle dance (kolo) in front of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God.
In front of a large audience, the stage hosted performances by the folklore ensembles “Kotor Varoš” and “Žubor,” as well as the cultural associations “Šarenica” from Prijedor, “Brio-Rudar” from Maslovare, “Dušan Stanković” from Čečava, “Radost” from Teslić, “Petar I Karađorđević Mrkonjić” from Mrkonjić Grad, “Miloš Dujić” from Čelinac, and “Dušan Pantelić” from Busnovi near Prijedor.
Darko Đekanović, president of the folklore ensemble “Kotor Varoš,” emphasized the importance of such events in preserving tradition and connecting people through culture.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to all participants by Milorad Savanović, director of the Center for Culture, Sports, and Information, who highlighted the value of safeguarding folk traditions and cultural heritage.
Srđan Marjanović, president and choreographer of the cultural association “Miloš Dujić,” stated that the Kotor Varoš Folklore Festival is one of the best-organized in the region.
The event was organized by the Center for Culture, Sports, and Information in cooperation with the Kotor Varoš folklore ensemble.
