Sarajevo and several other cities in the region are acting as though Banja Luka has no say in anything. However, Republika Srpska is an integral part of the Dayton Peace Agreement, under which it was granted a high degree of autonomy, Acting Director of the Republika Srpska Office for International Cooperation Ana Trišić Babić told RTRS.
“Over the past three or four years, since the ‘attacks’ began and since we here noticed and felt that the goal was for Srpska to disappear, to be abolished, to grossly violate the Dayton Peace Agreement and bring us to a situation in which Srpska would no longer exist, we changed our policy. These were all signals that we needed to become more active, particularly amid the new geopolitical circumstances since 2020, when major shifts began taking place on the global stage,” Trišić Babić said.
She said the leadership of Republika Srpska became more active in promoting Republika Srpska and the Dayton Peace Agreement.
“We promoted what Republika Srpska and a strong Srpska mean within the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement, and the stability this provides for the region. This was recognized in the United States, not only in political circles, but also among administrative officials, some journalists and investment circles. This led to a change in U.S. policy toward the region and toward Republika Srpska as an area where the Serb people live,” Trišić Babić stressed.
