“The international position of Republika Srpska has changed significantly over the past few months, reflecting the importance of the activities of the Srpska leadership and SNSD leader Milorad Dodik,” Darko Banjac, President of the National Party of Srpska, told Srna, expressing confidence that these activities will continue and that Srpska’s position will further strengthen.
“‘As a result, the status of Republika Srpska in the future will be far more significant and stronger. These activities are important not only for citizens, institutions, and the position of Srpska, but also for the security of its very survival,’ Banjac said.”
“He stressed that Republika Srpska must take care of its own international position, since when it comes to foreign activities it cannot rely on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the Council of Ministers—as long as it is headed by Elmedin Konaković.”
“‘In any case, that ministry has never delivered any particularly notable results,’ Banjac said.”
“Speaking about the important international activities of Republika Srpska, Banjac pointed out that this is not only about the lifting of sanctions, which he described as a significant move by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, but also about other activities Srpska is pursuing with other countries.”
“‘Republika Srpska has managed to establish the Russian Federation as a strategic partner, while also developing a certain level of communication and relations with the Trump administration,’ Banjac said.”
“Banjac described as particularly important the visit of Dodik and Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trišić Babić to Israel, where they were received at the highest possible level.”
“‘After Israel, a visit to Hungary followed, whose Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has already proven to be a friend of Srpska,’ Banjac emphasized.”
“Referring to Dodik’s upcoming trip to the United States for the National Prayer Breakfast, Banjac assessed that these are all activities of importance for the position of Republika Srpska, which, he recalled, has for years been undermined by parts of the international community.”
“‘We know that the administration of former U.S. President Joseph Biden imposed sanctions, and that has changed. Pressure from certain European countries is not only unjust, but they also seek to control the political situation here and choose representatives themselves, rather than allowing the citizens of Srpska to do so,’ Banjac said.”
