The new Government of Republika Srpska is legal, and that will be confirmed by any court, even if it were composed entirely of those who dispute it, said the newly elected Prime Minister Savo Minić today, adding that everything being done is undoubtedly in the interest not only of the people of Republika Srpska but of Republika Srpska itself.
“That discussion will go on for another seven to nine days, until the procedure is completed. There are certain rules and regulations, from the way the mandate is appointed to the decision of the National Assembly,” Minić stated.
He pointed out that he kept hearing from the opposition whether Milorad Dodik was legal and whether he himself was legal as the designated prime minister, but that he never heard anyone ask—“not even you”—whether Christian Schmidt is legal.
“Was he appointed in accordance with the UN resolution? Is it legitimate for him to change the Criminal Code on a website? Is it regular or legal for him to suspend the Constitution of the Federation of BiH for one day? Is it legal for him to amend the Criminal Code bypassing the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH? Is that legal? I am asking you,” said Minić.
He added that such questions should not be turned only toward him.
“You will see how it will be in court. And allow me—I am a lawyer, and I know how it will turn out. You will remember this conversation. All of this is legal because we are acting in the interest, not only of the people of Republika Srpska—this is not just a phrase—but truly in the interest of Republika Srpska. No one would allow themselves the kind of luxury that was being discussed yesterday in the National Assembly. The question of whether President Dodik signed the act nominating me as prime minister-designate—well, that is somewhat, I won’t say laughable, but it is a mantra that keeps being repeated. That is my answer,” Minić concluded.
