Russian Embassy: Moment of truth has come for Bosnia and Herzegovina

The moment of truth has come for Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will either prove itself to be a genuine legal and democratic state by rejecting the politicized verdict against the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik—pushed through under Western pressure—or align itself with Moldova, Romania, France, Germany, Austria, the United States—in essence, the entire collective West—where law enforcement agencies are hypocritically and arrogantly used to destroy political opponents, the Russian Embassy in BiH stated.

“What a parody of democracy is the reaction of Christian Schmidt, who suddenly declared that court decisions must be enforced. The same man who spat on the UN Security Council—the main body of international law—is now calling for respect of the laws he himself imposed by pressuring the ‘independent judiciary,’” the statement reads.

The Embassy emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot afford to make a historic mistake.

“Has everyone here truly forgotten its reputation as the ‘European powder keg’ in this blind and furious rush to use others’ hands to eliminate the most prominent political figure in the country—instead of finally initiating a dialogue with him about the future?” the statement continues.

The Embassy warned that what is at stake is not only Bosnia and Herzegovina’s place in the ‘democratic European family,’ but its very existence as a unified state.

“That is why those who hold influence over the course of events must cool their heads and reject foreign dictates so as not to become like the Kyiv junta, which turned itself into an instrument of foreign will. It is necessary to approach the current situation wisely, to consider the fundamental principles of international law, and to reduce tensions. If the situation spirals out of control, they will bear full responsibility for the consequences. That is why we repeat: the moment of truth has come for Bosnia and Herzegovina—because beyond it may lie a point of no return,” the Russian Embassy concluded.
