Bosnian Basketball League, Round 12

Bosnian Basketball League, Round 12

Banja Luka’s Borac will seek its tenth consecutive win in the BiH Basketball League as they face Jahorina in Pale during Round 12.

After being eliminated from the ABA 2 League, where they recorded three wins and three losses in the group stage, Borac has shifted focus to domestic competition. They secured a victory against Promo in Donji Vakuf in the previous round and are heading to face the league newcomer with the same ambition.

Jahorina, the reigning champion of Republika Srpska, is playing in this league for the first time. Coach Marko Šćekić is pleased that several players have recovered from injuries.

“Jahorina has won its last two games in the BiH League—one at home and one away—and also defeated Leotar at home in the quarterfinals of the Republika Srpska Cup. This shows they’re in good form after a coaching change and adding new players. We expect a tough match, especially given the challenging travel conditions due to the weather, so we must be well-prepared.

I’m happy that injured players are returning. I expect Milić Blagojević to get more minutes than last weekend against Promo, where he was still dealing with Achilles tendon and ankle issues. Kristijan Ateljević and Boris Dragojević are improving and played well last round. It will be a tough game, but we’re aiming for a win,” said Šćekić.

Borac is currently third in the standings with a 9-2 record, tied with second-place Široki. Jahorina, meanwhile, is tenth with a 5-6 record.

For the past month, Jahorina has been led by coach Miloš Obrenović, who replaced Miro Vukoja after a mutual agreement to end their cooperation. Obrenović brought in Lazar Vasić, and Milan Milošević is also expected to join the squad after parting ways with Spars.
