Last night in Ugljevik, the sixteenth International Days of the Accordion Festival was ceremoniously opened and will continue until April 22nd.

The festival has gathered around 150 competitors and chamber ensembles from fifteen countries.

The Days of the Accordion were inaugurated with performances by the finest young musicians and the renowned Russian university professor Yuri Shishkin, who has supported this festival since its inception.

“For more than ten years, I have been observing the development of this festival and I can confidently say that dreams do come true, but dreams and imagination are not enough; it takes a lot of work, and the organization of this festival involves people who have goals and work correctly to make dreams a reality,” said Shishkin.

The Mayor of Ugljevik, Vasilije Perić, emphasized that thanks to this festival, the name of Ugljevik has been inscribed on the cultural map of Europe, and that the artists and their students who have participated in this event over the years deserve the most credit.

The festival is organized by the Artist Association and the “Kornelije Stanković” Music School, with sponsors including the Government of Republika Srpska, the city of Bijeljina, and the municipality of Ugljevik.
