Political analyst Nenad Kecmanović has assessed that the convincing victory of Vladimir Putin in Russia’s presidential elections serves as a significant encouragement for Serbs to withstand all pressures from the West.
Kecmanović believes that Putin’s electoral triumph boosts the confidence that Republika Srpska and Serbia are again on the right side of history and that they should endure with even greater Serbian unity, energy, and determination.
“It’s already felt in the neighborhood, as it’s not wise to strike at Putin’s friend /President of Republika Srpska, Milorad/ Dodik,” emphasized Kecmanović for Srna.
He pointed out that the consequences of Putin’s great victory for Republika Srpska are ambiguous, explaining that, alongside the positive aspects, one must also consider the never before seen pressures from the collective West.
“We see these unprecedented pressures from the West in the actions of the field duo Murphy-Schmidt, such as the trial of the President of Republika Srpska in Muslim Sarajevo, the expansion of the blacklist for participating in the celebration of the Day of Republika, obstruction of direct agreements between Čović-Nikšić-Dodik, seizing public property of the ‘smaller entity’, politically conditioned rapid advancement towards the EU, and similar issues,” Kecmanović stated.
However, he highlighted, there’s no doubt that Putin’s electoral triumph influences the strengthening of the confidence of Republika Srpska and Serbia, as well as the belief that they are on the right side of history.
According to his evaluation, Putin’s victory itself, even as convincing as it was, isn’t surprising since all polls indicated Putin’s high popularity, while the opponents, at least outside of Russia, were almost unknown.
“However, winning with the support of almost 88 percent of the voters is indeed a triumph. The result is due to Putin’s spectacular achievements as the supreme commander, in diplomatic activities, and on the domestic front. At the beginning of his fifth term, he has already established himself as the leading statesman of the 21st century worldwide, regardless of, with a few exceptions, weak competition,” stated Kecmanović.
Commenting on the significance of Putin’s victory in relation to the circumstances in which it was achieved and its impact on global flows, Kecmanović assessed that Putin’s great electoral triumph represents an equally significant defeat for the collective West.
“Their self-fulfilling prophecies about rebellion in parts of the country with non-Russian populations, massive opposition protests in Moscow and Petrograd, and some garrisons defecting in Ukraine fell through,” Kecmanović pointed out.
He emphasized that the greatest miracle of Putin’s policy is the cushioning of unprecedented Western sanctions in dozens of packages that were supposed to economically destroy the Russian Federation, but he turned them into an incentive for the development of domestic industry and returned them to the sender.
“In the end, it turned out that the European part of the collective West imposed sanctions on itself, especially Germany, which deprived itself of the Russian energy resources necessary for the leading European industry. Finally, a large majority of the countries in the world did not join the sanctions,” Kecmanović noted.
He stressed that this statecraft miracle is intensively studied in the West, as military schools teach a new way of warfare with a minimum mobilization of manpower and limited use of superior missile weaponry, yet with maximum effects.
“Of course, changes on the other side are necessary for peace and stability in the world, and therefore eyes are turned towards the elections in the US, the Biden-Trump duel. The latter has long expressed respect for Putin and is already seen as a successful negotiator,” concluded Kecmanović.
