It has been a fantastic week for the female basketball players of the Eagles. The Banja Luka team defended their trophy in the BiH Cup, where they defeated the host Jumper with a score of 81:66 in the final.

In just four days, the team played three very important matches and managed to win all of them. First, they secured a victory over Montana and a place in the final tournament of the NJABA league. Then they celebrated in the BiH Cup semi-final against the Lions and in the final against Jumper. Hana Predojević was the top scorer in the winning team with 21 points. Aleksandra Mužević scored 15 points, as did Safija Li, while Gorana Marjanović and Danijela Mitrović scored 11 points each. In the Jumper team, Elma Feukić scored 20 points.

Coach Vesna Đuver expresses her great satisfaction with the work done in the past period.

“We really had a great week. In four days, we had three matches where we had the imperative to win, and the girls successfully passed all of them. We won the second trophy of the season. I am extremely satisfied with the energy and attitude the girls had. After the exhausting match against Montana, we showed seriousness at the final tournament. The girls played like experienced basketball players, they handled the pressure brilliantly. From the first moment, they showed that they know what they want and how to play, and that brought us the trophy. According to what was shown, we fully deserved it,” highlighted the coach of the Eagles.

The team can now calmly prepare for the final tournament of the NJABA league in Podgorica on March 23 and 24.

“Qualifying for the final tournament was not imperative for us, so we have exceeded expectations. Now we can go there relaxed and play as well as possible against a very quality team like Cinkarna Celje. For the girls, this is a reward for all the good they have done during the season, to be able to go to the final tournament and give their maximum. It’s a single match, so anything is possible,” Đuver added.

Injury of Jozić

A significant problem for the Eagles team was certainly the injury of Jelena Jozić at the start of the semi-final duel against the Lions. However, the team found a solution for this and compensated for the absence of this basketball player, who did not play in the final.
