No institution at the level of BiH has made a decision to impose sanctions on Russia, so the interpretations of OHR officials regarding the foreign policy of BiH are nonsensical, stated the delegate in the Club of Serbs in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Radovan Kovačević.

Kovačević emphasized that the OHR has nothing to do with the European path of BiH and that it is exclusively the right of the elected representatives of the people to implement policies agreed upon within BiH.

“The OHR does not have a mandate under the Dayton Agreement to create party policies or to dictate to leaders with whom they can or cannot meet,” Kovačević highlighted to Srna, commenting on the OHR’s statement regarding the meeting between the President of Republika Srpska and the Russian Federation, Milorad Dodik, and Vladimir Putin, which stated that “BiH has committed to following the security and foreign policy guidelines of the EU” as a candidate country for EU membership, and that this excludes cooperation with countries under sanctions, as well as personal meetings with the heads of these states.

Kovačević pointed out that Republika Srpska, respecting the Constitution of BiH, has the right to form economic, cultural, and other partnerships with all those countries that wish to do so, especially with those countries that are guarantors of the Dayton Agreement.

“The OHR cannot dictate this to us, especially not some unnamed foreigner in the OHR,” Kovačević stated.

It should be reminded that today, Christian Schmidt said that elections must be held according to the new law and that “politicians cannot play with it.”
