Minić: Time for domestic institutions to take responsibility for BiH’s future

Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has emphasized the growing calls to end international supervision and the role of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in BiH, stating that the time has come for domestic institutions to assume full responsibility for the country’s political future.

Minić welcomed statements made by representatives of the United States and China during the latest United Nations Security Council debate on BiH.

“The messages from US representative to the UN Tammy Bruce and Chinese Ambassador Sun Lei at the UN Security Council are also encouraging, emphasizing that the future of BiH must be in the hands of its peoples and elected representatives,” Minić stated.

Dialogue and respect for Dayton Agreement remain essential

The Prime Minister stressed that Republika Srpska has consistently advocated dialogue, political agreement and respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement as the foundations of long-term stability.

He reiterated that domestic political representatives should be responsible for making decisions concerning the country’s future.

“For years, Republika Srpska has emphasized that dialogue, agreement and respect for the Dayton Agreement are the only path toward stability,” Minić said.

“It is time for domestic institutions to assume responsibility and for us to make decisions about our own future, with full respect for the rights of all three constituent peoples,” he wrote on X.

UN Security Council discusses future of international supervision

Minić’s remarks followed the UN Security Council’s semiannual debate on the situation in BiH, held the previous day.

The discussion addressed the country’s political developments and the role of international involvement.

The Prime Minister’s statement reaffirmed Republika Srpska’s position that political responsibility should rest with democratically elected domestic institutions, while the Dayton Peace Agreement and the rights of all three constituent peoples must remain central to the country’s future.
