Autumn celebration of childhood: My Quince brings together children from Herzegovina

The traditional children’s festival “Dunjo moja” (My Quince) will take place on October 30, starting at 10 a.m., at Danilo Škero’s farm and the Oglavci playground in Pridvorci, near Trebinje. For the first time, this year’s event will be held under the patronage of the City of Trebinje.

The festival brings together young children to promote outdoor activities, healthy lifestyles, friendship and creativity through a variety of educational and entertaining activities.

Children from Eastern Herzegovina and Herceg Novi come together

The event will welcome children from preschool institutions in Trebinje, Ljubinje, Gacko, Bileća and Berkovići, as well as youngsters from the Naša Radost public kindergarten in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.

The program will begin with a gathering at the Oglavci playground, followed by a group quince-picking activity and refreshments for all participants.

A special part of the festival will feature musical performances and poetry recitations, giving children an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Musicians Risto Džodža and Nebojša Buha will also contribute to the festive atmosphere with performances during the entertainment program.

Awards for outstanding performances and certificates for all participants

A five-member jury will evaluate the performances and select the most successful participants.

Winners will receive plaques and special gifts, while all participating children will be presented with certificates of appreciation as a lasting reminder of the event.

The festival aims to encourage creativity, confidence and friendship while providing an enjoyable experience in a natural setting.

Celebrating the beauty and traditions of rural Herzegovina

According to Radio Trebinje, the festival was conceived and organized by Danilo Škero’s agricultural farm in cooperation with the relevant departments of the Trebinje City Administration and the Trebinje Tourist Organization.

The event also highlights the importance of preserving local agricultural traditions and introducing younger generations to rural life.

Through fruit picking, music, games and social activities, children will have an opportunity to discover the beauty of the Herzegovinian countryside and experience the joy of spending time outdoors.

“Dunjo moja” offers children a chance to enjoy a day away from screens, surrounded by nature, friendship and the traditional hospitality of Herzegovina.
